We work with two
Champagne grape varieties : Mainly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
We cultivate our
vines and produce our wines in the greatest respect of our terroir and of its
unique character.
Improving the
protection of its environment, which is also ours, is a major concern for our
estate. That is why our estate is certified as HVE (High Environmental Value)
and VDC (Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne). These certifications meet the
environmental requirements that we set ourselves for the day-to-day management
of our estate.
Therefore, we
stopped using chemical weedkillers to move on to the mechanical work of the
soil. Today, this method is used in 95% of the surface areas that we cultivate.
We are also
testing full row straw-mulching to limit self-propagating plant growth. We use
this method for our plots where access by mechanical equipment is
impracticable, not to use herbicide any more.
The attention
and the care that we give to our vineyard every day, allow us to encourage
prophylactic diseases protection and to ban definitively (since 2008) the use
of anti-botrytis products considered as useless in plots cultivated in
accordance with professional standards.
We also favour
natural products, such as sulphur and copper to limit the use of synthetic
products.
Always with the
objective to reduce chemical input products, we have replaced insecticides by
the “confusion sexuelle” method, a more environmentally friendly biological
control method. It consists in placing
devices in our vines which will spread pheromones and disturb the reproduction
system of insect pests.
Finally, our
estate has a certificate of competence for the use of plant protection
products, which certifies that we know how to control the use of these products
in a reasonable and safe way.
Through these
actions, we actively contribute to protect our health and our environment and
to preserve the universally renowned qualities of our terroir.
